About Venturing
Joining a scouting Venturing Crew can be an eye-opening experience for young men and women. The Potawatomi Area Council offers Venturing as one of our teen scouting programs, introducing youth to fun and exciting adventures. Teens and young adults ages 14-20 can enjoy friendship and learning new skills in this active lifestyle scouting program. Venturing is youth-led with adult advisors that plan and attend various activities and events throughout the year.
Leadership Roles
Our Venturing Crews give young men and women the chance to become leaders within the program. Young adults are mentored by adults and other youth leaders, then have the opportunity to become leaders and mentors to others. This is a wonderful way to build character and leadership skills that will serve to boost self-confidence and esteem for their future.
Challenging Adventures
Venturing is for young adults that want to discover new challenges and adventures. Our Venturing Crews have different specialties that expose members to new experiences to widen their horizon. Whether they are kayaking or volunteering at a community event, Venturing helps young adults embrace every challenge. Venturing adventures are always team-based events that help build communication and cooperation skills that are valuable for personal growth.
Fitness and Social Benefits
Finding activities and fitness pursuits that are fun and exciting are a great way to keep physically fit. Venturing offers a chance to find activities that scouts enjoy while socializing with other youth with similar interests. Improving personal fitness while improving social, leadership and goal-setting/achieving skills are some of the many benefits of joining a Venturing Crew.
